THE MUSHROOM BALL 1988-2000

The Mushroom Ball started in 1988 at the Railway Hall (long since demolished)
A friend of mine (Vic) suggested during a conversation that we create an event like an old fashioned ball with people dressed up in their finery but with a decent hard rockin'/punky soundtrack. She suggested the name The Mushroom Ball.
The Mushroom Ball quickly strayed from her inital suggestion and mutated into a Celebration of Rock 'n' Roll taking place sometime in May (Magic Mushroom season)
each year.

Over the years a number of great bands played these gigs which were held in a number of different venues around New Plymouth.
Gig posters showing line ups and venues will be added sometime

ALTERATIONS

Since I'm having the time of my life tonight i thought I'd tidy up my bit of cyberspace.

I have been trying to access blogs that I mucked around with and cannot make work,The problem ones are all part of www.blog.com so I am quitting them all.
www.tonkadoesnotrock.blog.com is dead, departed, dispatched and so will others be.
The misadventures of TONKADOESNOTROCK will rear their beautiful head here from this day fourth.

It's good to be 4th. Come in # 4

NAME CHANGE FOR TONKA

Tonka is over..there are too many Tonka's.

There is Tonka who are a Swedish metal band.

There is DJ Tonka.

There was a punk/hardcore band sometime back in the mists of time called Tonka. They released a cassette that was advertised in Maximum Rock 'n' Roll mag.

Now Tonka will become tonkadoesnotrock

and new projects are getting hatched ..however slowly.

ONLINE STUFF BEING MOVED AROUND

I am attempting to tidy this up for the both of you who read it.

CELEBRATE THE SONIC ARTS

In 1991 and in a fit of prolonged rock 'n' roll inspired lunacy I pressed up 1000 copies of a album of New Zealand bands. The lp was called "Celebrate The Sonic Arts". Bands on it included Flesh D-Vice, Spud, Onaweta,The Warners, Number Nine, Johnny Leadfinger and The Phantom Rockers from Hell and a bunch of others.

Only 400 people in the whole known universe were smart enough to want a copy of this and I have the others here looking for a good home.

Is your place a good home for a record like this?.If so $20US including postage gets one of these to your house anywhere inside the known universe (except for New Zealand...$30 local currency is fine). Paypal is fine and recordfairsnz@gmail.com is all you need. Any questions, ask away

trades ok too!!
